Our client is on the lookout for a SHEQ officer to add to their H&S team, reporting to the SHEQ Manager, The SHEQ Officer’s role includes risk management and continual monitoring of SHEQ related activities across the office and field teams. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines and requires strong people management of field and office team.
The Role:
- The SHEQ Officer will be responsible for setting and driving the safety culture within a rapidly growing engineering team.
- You will put robust safety systems in place and be responsible for keeping these under constant review, refining and improving on them as the contract evolves.
- As a SHEQ Officer your main objective is to prevent accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses and to promote a culture where safety is placed firmly at the top of the agenda.
- You shall coach, monitor & motivate all employees to ensure they always engage in safe working practices and maintain a focus on health and safety, an excellent customer experience and quality workmanship.
- Working as part of our MDE SHEQ Team to ensure the provision of a safe and productive work environment.
- Monitor and enforce the implementation of SHEQ Management System.
- Identify site specific hazards and ensure they are addressed in a practical manner on the site.
- Assist MDE Management to ensure Contractor Compliance on all sites.
- Assist SHEQ Manager and MDE management to coordinate the safe systems of work.
- Enforce site specific disciplinary procedures.
- Carry out data processing and trend analysis on auditing and address non-conformances / deviations as they are identified with MDE management and SHEQ / Quality Auditors.
- Contribute to accident and incident investigation.
- Contribute to the Toolbox talk topics, discussion and delivery.
- Manage training matrix and identify training needs for MDE’s personnel.
- Manage all Training Record Forms and ensure all records are fully compliant.
- Assist with daily, weekly, monthly reports for Client and Board of Directors.
- Leaving Cert / GCSE in Maths & English.
- Relevant qualification in Health & Safety e.g. IOSH / NEBOSH.
- Safe Pass / ECS card and Testing & Inspection are desirable.
- Knowledge of Electricity Industry, ideally Utilities Sector is desirable.
- A full valid clean EU/UK driving licence.
- Experience in managing safety systems is required, including a qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Able to manage Health and Safety on-site using their own initiative within the scope of the management system.
- Able to chair and deliver Health and Safety meetings and presentations.
- Ensures deadlines and targets are met, understanding the impact of timescales to both the Client and business.
- Experience in producing and delivering RAMS & Toolbox talks.
