Finance Director
Responsibilities
Financial Control, Planning and Analysis
- Financial accounts - Balance Sheet, P&L, cash flow reporting and variance analysis
- Budgetary control and operational spend management, including standard costing, overhead absorption and inventory controls
- Capex approval control and benefit realisation tracking
- Program cost controlling (pre-commercial Capex and Opex)
- Other responsibilities include supporting cashflow management, banking, payroll, pension and insurance activities, productivity analysis
- Financial strategy development and deployment
- Scenario modelling and business case preparation
- Target Unit Costs through the ramp-up phase for business expansion
- Excellent budgetary capability (development, modelling, LRP)
- Support Technical Operations management from a Finance perspective
- ROI assessment for Capex investments
Financial Systems and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Company Policies and Procedures
- Ensure SOX internal controls and GAAP compliance along with strong audit track record (including Corp/3rd party audits)
- Manage statutory reporting and local reporting requirements
- Good legal working knowledge, especially as it applies to financial set-up, etc.
- Support Transfer Pricing and Financial Flows requirements
- Support development of financial systems and ERP systems– Financial, Cost Accounting, Bills of Materials, Materials Management
- Local engagement with external parties (Auditors, Insurers, Pension Consultants etc.)
Optimisation of Grants and Tax
- Strong regional (Revenue) tax understanding and experience, incl. corporate tax, etc.
- Experience of IDA incentives, RandD tax credit, knowledge box, etc.
- Business case development (incl. financial business case) for Corp decision making e.g. clinical manufacturing tax credit and/or incentives via APIL.
- Misc. - capital allowances
- Direct preparation of monthly management reports and operating plan performance reports for management
- Monthly operating expense variance vs. budget and forecast, including research of material variances
- Ad Hoc Reports as needed
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualification with 20+ years experience
- Meet the requirement for a commercially astute, articulate, technically strong and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
- Exceptional communication skills at all levels
- Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making
- High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance
- Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success
- 10+ years experience in a public pharmaceutical company
- Head of Finance/Plant Controller experience is preferred
- Ability to establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with internal and external parties
- Proven track record in leading and developing a Finance Team
- Senior leadership (incl. Site Leadership Team) experience, ideally with some biopharma experience, including site establishment and organisational build to commercial readiness
- Site Leadership Team Business Partner / key strategic influencer
- Familiarity with corporate and stakeholder management requirements
- Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP, accounting and financial principles
- Understanding of Lean Principles to measure Plant operations and KPIs
- Finance experience of product launch (EU and beyond) preferable
- Strong knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookups and multi-IF formulas
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, business process, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple work streams with a commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles and challenges in a time-sensitive environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Flexible. Able to work with all levels of management High level exposure expected to interact with Senior Management
