Food Safety Manager - Waterford
Overview
Reporting to the Site Head of Quality and based at our state-of-the-art Belview site, the Food Safety Manager will be responsible for end-to-end optimisation of microbiological standards across all plant processes across production, filling and packing, utilities and milk intake. The ideal candidate for this role will be a team player who possesses strong technical ability, is adept at building cross-functional relationships and has the ability to work on their own initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure development, implementation and maintenance of a robust environmental control and monitoring programme e.g. cleaning and sanitation practices, hygienic zoning etc.;
- Act as food safety expert and technical support for all production impacting issues relating to hygiene & microbiological standards;
- Ensure testing is performed as per product specification requirements and cGMP;
- Support process validation activities and cleaning verification program
- Monitor, report and trend on microbiological data and develop corrective actions relating to the environment and production processes;
- Troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to enhance performance in microbiological standards;
- Ownership of microbiological driven documentation including design, development and roll-out of Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and training documentation;
- Support development and deployment of training to employees on food safety requirements and hygiene;
- Conduct daily plant hygiene walk downs and report at the morning meeting on the hygiene status of the plant;
- Maintain the master sanitation program in the plant.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food sciences or dairy technology;
- 3+ years relevant job experience within the industry;
- Well-rounded experience in a food safety and risk management role. Ensuring compliance in food & dairy industries;
- Proven track record in our industry specific risks and mitigation programs of same;
- Experience with microbial, chemical contaminants risk assessments and controls;
- Ability to analyse data, recognise trends and recommend actions to drive continuous improvement;
- Demonstrate strong technical ability, problem-solving and attention to detail to do the job at a high level of accomplishment;
- Team player with a proven ability to build cross functional relationships;
- Driven and motivated with ability to work on own initiative;
- Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers;
- Computer literate, Microsoft Office suite & a working knowledge of LIMS.
