We’re an IT intensive business and we operate state-of-the-art, specialised business-critical systems 24/7 – which is where your skills and experience come in. You’ll play a vital role in the IT Applications team in the support, maintenance and development of all applications across the Group.
You will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a range of EMS application projects designed to support the effective operation of the power system, assisting in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance system reliability aligned to the business strategy and analysing Business User requirements, protocols, procedures and problems to automate or enhance application functionality.
You will liaise with external business partners to build project solutions, in the areas of technology integration, data management and exchange, assist and support, in real-time, the troubleshooting of issues and provide subject matter expertise to resolve these (possibly as part of a defined 24/7 on call rota) for our key customers and perform systems maintenance and improvement activities to support and enhance the effectiveness of the Power System Application portfolio.
A background of working in a complex, challenging environment with critical systems and a degree in Engineering/IT or equivalent is required along with excellent technical skills and knowledge such as analysis, testing, design, implementation programming and maintenance.
But what’s important is that you have strong written and verbal communications including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and strong technical report writing capability along with experience of conceiving and introducing innovative IT and data management ideas, concepts and solutions.
