Machine Vision Specialist
Our client is a Strategic Government Initiative, led by the IDA, and is a a newly established centre which is intended to help Irish based manufacturers (MNC’s and SME’s) to access and accelerate their adoption of digital technologies. Offering a world class physical and digital factory, a vendor showcase, an industry collaboration space and training facilities the centre will bring together technology, expertise, training and business supports to help manufacturing companies to enhance, transform and position their operations for the future.
Located in the National Technology Park, Limerick, Ireland. This role is a flexible hybrid working model.
Role overview:
With this role you will work as part of a Data Science team to support the centre's clients. You will deliver machine vision projects across a variety of manufacturing domains. The candidate will also have a deep knowledge of machine vision solutions and can work with technology, project management, and business teams. You will keep ahead of current trends related to machine vision so that the centre will be a best-in-class institute.
Main responsibilities:
· Scope, plan and execute machine vision projects to deliver tangible improvements to manufacturing production operations.
· Convey technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences using the appropriate level of detail for the target audience.
· Partner and engage in the engineering, development, validation, and test activities to guide and support with the wider engineering team
· Perform rapid proof-of-concept development
· Problem-solve technical issues using team skills to identify and resolve
· Communicate widely within the company on status and progress of various projects.

Experience Required
· Understanding of the AI development lifecycle, familiarity with model types (CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs), common NN models (MobileNet, UNet, TinyYOLO, ResNet etc.).
· Technical leadership, guiding and supporting more junior engineers
· Strong validation-driven testing experience
· Proven experience of writing technical documentation.
Required Skills
· OpenCV
· AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)
· At least one scripting language (preferably Python)
· Practical experience with build, development, and version control tools
The following experience would be an advantage
· Experience with deploying AI to embedded systems and edge devices.
Minimum Role Requirements:
· Holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems, or a related technical field.
