We are currently recruiting for a Major Public body as part of nation- wide contract. They seek to hire a Mechanical Engineering Assistant.
Working hours: Monday to Friday (Flexi time)
Salary: £26,692
Location: Belfast
The position is temporary with an estimated duration of 6 to 12 months. Please note that this is purely an estimated duration.
Key Responsibilities
The post holders will be members of a multi-disciplinary organisation and shall be part of a team of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Engineers. The key responsibilities will be the management & supervision of mechanical building services works in a maintenance environment including:
• Feasibility, design and contract managing the installation of mechanical building services micro and small works projects (up to a value of £500k);
• Compliance with relevant industry standards, legislation and associated regulations.
• Compliance with procurement and contract best practice and guidance including Property Management Contract procedures, terms and conditions
• Directing and supervising contractors in undertaking works.
• Managing, directing and participating in the work of multi-disciplinary teams.
• Advising clients on a variety of building services related issues including planned preventative maintenance, mechanical building services design, energy management and sustainable development;
• Liaising with other professional and technical staff in the Division and with client representatives to effectively maintain the client’s property estate to ensure satisfactory use for intended purpose and value for money;
• Maintaining personal performance and client delivery in compliance with all statutory, health and safety, policy, good practice requirements and associated guidance;
• Compliance with public sector procurement policy.
• Providing support to Contract Management Team.
Selection Criteria
Candidates must clearly identify their skills/experience in the following areas on their application:
A BTEC/Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering with a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience, gained within the last 7 years, in the delivery of mechanical building services works in a maintenance environment on such systems typically found in non-domestic buildings.
