Our clients are seeking a talented Technical Project Manager to help them implement a transformative programme that will deliver new technology, data and processes to support collaboration and engagement of all organisational stakeholders through a common, rolling operating plan.
The programme will straddle multiple concurrent, interdependent project strands that will be delivered through a mix of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. It involves changes to core systems and integrations as well as new systems and integrations.
Key responsibilities
· The IT Project Manager will work within the PMO team to provide business analysis, solution design, and project management support for the delivery of the IT programme.
· Supporting Business teams to create requirements documentation and Business Cases.
· Demonstrate innovation in presenting solution options that marry the strategic objectives to meet the business requirements, that are fit for purpose, value for money, and deliver quality of customer experience.
· Proactive active communications and management of key stakeholders across the business.
· Planning and tracking for multiple parallel projects, of varying complexity.
· Developing detailed resource plans for projects ensuring correct skills are assigned ensuring project success.
· Regular project status reporting, including Risk/Issue Management while assisting the Senior Project Management Team Leads within the IT PMO.
· Ensure the appropriate level of governance is applied in line with our standards and policies.
· Scheduling and chairing of regular project steering committees.
· Manage all project related expenditure ensuring project is delivered on or under budget.
· Definition and effective implementation of project governance mechanisms to support the delivery of both project and strategic objectives.
· Experience of Test planning, execution, and implementation management.
· Ensure projects are closed correctly and in line with agreed scope, timelines, and budget.
· Handover to Technical Services for ongoing Support.
· Participation in Post Implementation reviews and Benefits realisation exercise.
· Supporting the business with Change Management to adopt new technology to realise business benefits.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· 3-5 Years’ experience in a Technical Project Management Role.
· Excellent and extensive consultancy, negotiation and delegation skills are essential for this role.
· Proven project delivery experience to include supplier management and financial governance.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including proven ability to establish and run effective Steering Committees.
· Ability to adapt to a very dynamic business environment with multiple competing priorities.
· Structured Project Management skills covering the complete life cycle and use of appropriate tools.
· Working knowledge of project related metrics and measures.
· 3rd party management - negotiation skills, knowledge of IT contracts, management against SLAs
· Excellent interpersonal skills as a self-starter in a team environment; highly motivated to exploit opportunities by leveraging internal and external partners.
· PMI (PMP) project management certification is desired but not essential.
· Knowledge of Project Management software, specifically Microsoft Project.
· Knowledge of basic finance is required specifically around Capital, Operational expenditure.
