Location: Berkshire
We are current recruiting for an experienced scientist with well-developed specialist knowledge and skills in molecular/virology fields to join the team as a Specialist Practitioner. The post holder will work within a new COVID-19 Lighthouse Testing Laboratory. They will be required to work unsupervised either as part of a team or independently. This role is currently being offered as a fixed term contract running until the 31st December 2021 and will offer shift work.
Key responsibilities:
-Receive, analyse and report specimens for COVID-19 testing
-Perform complex tests using dedicated scientific equipment on samples received
-Interpret and report results
-Support the development and training of less experienced or junior staff
-Contribute to the laboratory information system (LIMS)
Requirements:
-BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
-IBMS Specialist portfolio, equivalent post graduate diploma or equivalent in-depth experience in molecular/virology fields
-HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
-Experience in a busy Pathology laboratory
