Control and Instrumentation Design Engineer
Our client, Ireland’s leading energy and utilities services provider, is seeking to hire Control and Instrumentation Design Engineer to lead the detailed design of capex and opex projects for refurbishment of existing and new build assets of the company. The successful candidate will have knowledge of gas related process design and will be an enthusiastic self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving and process development. There are 2 roles available at Senior and Intermediate levels.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team comprised of seconded engineers and engineering service providers to deliver the design of capex and opex projects to meet programme timelines.
- Supporting C&I design in accordance with the Engineering Design Manual, including design review, design deviation process, material specification, tender document preparation for projects, comprising pipelines, network modifications and pressure reducing installations across the network.
- Supporting project control budget costs, contributing towards driving efficiencies within the design process.
- Ensuring all design documentation is fully and accurately completed and develop appropriate procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory controls, where required.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of internal operational processes and procedures including ISO: 9000 in the C&I Design environment.
- Driving sustainability within the design process for new network connections
- Co-ordination of specialist technical services and third-party resources as part of the design process.
- Supporting the Materials Engineers in the development of specifications for projects.
- Contributing to the ongoing competency initiative within C&I Design.
- Performing other duties as assigned from time to time.
To be considered for the role you will:
- Hold Electrical / Instrumentation Degree in Engineering (Level 8) or recognised Level 8 engineering equivalent
- Have a minimum of three years engineering experience, preferably in the natural gas industry.
- Have technical proficiency in Instrumentation, Control System design, Cathodic Protection Systems and equipment specification.
- Be competent in Hazardous Area classification and ATEX certification.
- Have a strong working knowledge of Telemetry / SCADA systems.
- Be competent in fiscal metering systems.
- Have a working knowledge of H&S standards and risk management systems e.g., Design Risk Assessment, HAZOP, etc…
- Have a working knowledge of relevant Gas Standards, Codes of Practice and Statutory Requirements.
- Have a good understanding of business operations and the commercial viability and impact of technical / professional decisions on the performance of the organisation.
- Have proven track record with dealing with complex issues
- Have the ability to communicate complex information to others.
- Have excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills and the ability to influence, advocate and persuade.
- Have the ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results.
It’s an attractive career enhancing fixed term contract role. Remuneration package is negotiable and will reflect the qualifications, experience, and fit of the candidate. As there is 2 roles available, Senior Design Engineer can expect the salary 65-75k and Design engineer 45-65k.
