Role: Java/Scala Development Lead
Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid)
Overview:
Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking an experienced Java/Scala Development Lead to head up a team responsible for delivering technology solutions that support financial and regulatory reporting across multiple jurisdictions, including the EU, Singapore, Canada, and the USA.
The successful candidate will lead a team implementing robust ETL and data transformation systems, ensuring data accuracy, scalability, and compliance with complex financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of 4–6 Java/Scala developers delivering data and ETL solutions for regulatory reporting.
- Drive architectural design, code reviews, and best practices across the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with business analysts and QA teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Manage workload prioritization, sprint planning, and stakeholder communication.
- Liaise with infrastructure and DevOps teams to define and implement environment and deployment requirements.
- Oversee production support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure ongoing application stability.
- Ensure quality, performance, and compliance standards are consistently met.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years leading a Java or Scala development team.
- 8+ years of Java experience or 3+ years of Scala experience (functional programming experience advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of ETL processes, REST APIs, JSON, and data integration patterns.
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL/SQL databases.
- Familiarity with streaming frameworks such as Akka/Pekko Streams or Java equivalents.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with business and technology stakeholders.
- Financial services or capital markets experience preferred.
- Experience with Jira/Confluence or similar project tracking tools.
- Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) an advantage.
Eligibility: Must hold a minimum Stamp 4 visa and be based within a commutable distance to Dublin.
