An established public sector organisation is seeking a qualified DP Accountant to join their Finance team on a short-term agency basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to operate as a Finance Business Partner within a dynamic and high-profile environment.
The Role
Reporting within the Finance function, you will act as a key Finance Business Partner, providing high-quality financial support, expert advice, and robust financial oversight across a diverse operational area.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to senior management and key stakeholders
- Provide expert budgeting, forecasting, and in-year financial monitoring advice to budget holders
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships across internal departments and external stakeholders
- Support financial forecasting and costing for research and business development activities
- Promote effective stewardship of public funds, ensuring probity, regularity, and value for money
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal controls, governance frameworks, policies, and procedures
- Support the implementation and enhancement of financial systems and reporting processes
- Assist in annual accounts preparation and liaise with auditors
- Review business cases and undertake investment appraisals
- Manage and lead a small team, driving high performance and continuous improvement
- Promote accountability, integrity, and professional standards across the function
Essential Criteria
Fully qualified accountant and current member of one of the following professional bodies:
- Chartered Accountants Ireland
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland
- Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
- Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy
- Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland
AND
A minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial planning and budgeting
- Financial management / management accounting
- Financial accounting or auditing
- Development or implementation of financial systems
- Strategic planning and decision support within a finance or regulatory environment
About You
You will be a proactive and commercially aware finance professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders. Experience within a public sector or regulated environment would be advantageous.
