Role Title: Head of Fund Accounting
Regulatory Application:
- Support the project team working with the Central Bank of Ireland to obtain fund administration permission in Ireland
- Assume PCF-34 functions for the business
Operational Performance Management:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including review and final approval of Net Asset Value prior to delivery to clients
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with IFRS standards
- Maintain the general ledger and reconcile all accounts
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of the financial reporting process
- Conduct periodic reviews and audits of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to identify and address control weaknesses
- Identify and recommend process improvements to streamline accounting processes and increase efficiency
- Assist with ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned by senior management
- Supervise and manage daily and monthly accounting operations within a portfolio of client relationships
- Analyze investment performance and monitor portfolio risks
- Ensure overall client satisfaction by facilitating efforts of the assigned servicing team, coordinating resources to ensure timely delivery and issue resolution, and effectively communicating client concerns and requirements to appropriate managers and teams within the Company
- Cultivate strong working relationships with client contacts with a demonstrated ability to add value via a consultative approach - anticipating client needs, developing possible solutions, and partnering with the client for implementation steps
- Apply technical expertise in fund accounting to set delivery standards for the combined accounting and transfer agent functions
- Foster an environment based on professional principles and concepts, aligning business strategy with specific team objectives
- Supervise critical data reconciliation, quality of accounting reports, risk and attribution reporting, and reliability and accuracy of financial statements.
- Implement practices and procedures to review and verify accounting reports, supporting documents, and reporting formats to ensure completeness of input data
- Manage workflow between external clients and the Company’s Back Office Operations Centre to generate deliverables within daily and monthly accounting, with particular attention to client questions and processes to satisfy unique client requirements
- Help clients and investors use the reporting platform to access analytical reports, including breakout and portfolio data, to meet specific expectations at the end user level
- Review fund (pool) formation and offering documents, including trading advisory agreements, with special attention to accounting provisions to identify and communicate any suggested changes for clients; verify accounting methodology disclosed or utilized for fees calculations and expense booking at both the fund and investor levels for all fund structures
- Conceptualize and develop protocols for secure file transmission between clients and the Company to ensure data security and confidentiality within the organization and with external senders and recipients
- Review quarterly and annual compliance and regulatory filings
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of fund accounting experience, preferably in the role of a manager at a hedge fund administrator or audit firm
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Sufficient combination of experience and educational background to obtain Central Bank of Ireland PCF-34 approval
- Efficient and well-organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Must be able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MBA) and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is strongly preferred
- Experience in a regulated financial services business in Ireland, including prior experience in the PCF-34 function
