Job Description:
- Location: Limerick, Ireland
The System Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and growth of Covalen’s IT Infrastructure. They will maintain, upgrade, and provide support for software, hardware, and networks. The Systems Administrator needs to be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and be available to respond to help desk requests. The Systems Administrator is also responsible for maintaining the system infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and wireless access points, for testing computer equipment, backing up databases, and installing and rebuilding existing servers as well as other processes, such as access control or asset management.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage IT assets from the acquisition and tracking to setup, rollout, maintenance and support, to the collection and secure disposal.
• Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues to local and remote users.
• Access control and monitoring.
• Monitor the ticketing system and respond quickly to any user requests
• Monitor the IT Infrastructure daily and respond quickly to any issues. security breaches or usability concerns.
• Assist in the management of system infrastructure including Windows and Linux servers, PaloAlto NextGen firewall.
• Provide support for internal IT tools and basic training to end users (if needed).
• Backup systems and verify that backups have been completed.
• Regularly upgrade systems as needed.
• Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current system.
• Interact with vendors on behalf of the business.
• Document all reported malfunctions and actions taken in response.
• Work closely with departmental managers to determine future network needs and plan for network changes
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate has previous experience in supporting IT Infrastructure to meet business requirements. He/she will present a positive, effective, and flexible contribution to achieving targets and objectives. He/she will have exceptional analytical skills and technical aptitude with an understanding of troubleshooting complex technical issues. He/she must have excellent problem-solving and time-management skills, along with an extensive knowledge of data laws. The ideal candidate must have excellent written and spoken communication skills and, ideally, some experience in project management. He/she would have experience in delivering professional presentations and have the professional flexibility to ensure problem resolution. The candidate must be flexible to work to changing schedules and be willing to occasionally travel to other Covalen locations as/when required.

Technical Requirements:
• Expert knowledge and experience with Windows Server and Windows 10/11 OS.
• Experience with O365 and Azure platforms.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (desired).
• PowerShell and batch scripting (desired).
• Working knowledge of Windows Server Web functions.
• Basic understanding of security checking, log checking, and range blocking.
• Understanding of system redundancy and backup concepts.
• Understanding of networking basics.
Experience:
The suitable candidate will have formidable experience and working knowledge of:
• 2+ years experience as a system administrator or help desk analyst in Windows Server and Windows 10/11
• Has solid experience with Microsoft 365 Administration
• Has some experience with Microsoft Intune
• Has solid knowledge of system security concerns and vulnerabilities.
• Has some experience with Linux operating systems.
• Degree in IT or equivalent (desired)
• Experience with VOIP telephony would be an advantage.
• Experience with database systems would be an advantage.
• Experience troubleshooting high level technical issues with system logs/errors.
