Social Care Manager – Children’s Residential Services
Location: Bandon, Co. Cork (with a second house opening in Cork)

We are currently accepting applications for the position of Social Care Manager to oversee an established residential service in Bandon, Co. Cork, along with the setup and development of a second residential home in Cork.
The Role
The Social Care Manager holds overall responsibility for the care provided to young people living within the residential service, as well as for the staff team delivering that care. You will ensure that all care practices meet organisational policies, national regulations, and best-practice standards, while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and homely environment appropriate to each young person’s age and stage of development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the residential service, ensuring high-quality, child-centred care at all times
- Oversee the setup and development of a new residential home
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, HIQA regulations, and the Irish National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the staff team
- Promote a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment for young people
- Ensure the residential setting is homely, clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate
- Foster a positive culture that supports resilience, recovery, and positive outcomes for young people
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s or MA/MSc in one of the following disciplines:
- Social Care, Applied Social Studies in Social Care, Social Work, Social Care Management, or a related Social Care qualification
- A full, clean manual driver’s licence valid in Ireland, with access to own transport
- A relevant management qualification
- Previous experience setting up a new residential home
- Strong knowledge of the Irish National Standards in Children’s Residential Centres
- A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in a management role (e.g. Social Care Leader or Deputy Manager)
- A minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience working in Social Care with young people
