Thursday 21st March marks World Down Syndrome Day, an international event 'advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome.'

As a founding member of the Open Doors Project, we're delighted to recognise this day by highlighting a new documentary featuring one of our employees.

Mei Lin was introduced to Cpl in October 2016 through the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Mei Lin, who has Down Syndrome, started on a six-month placement and is now a highly regarded permanent employee.

Since joining Cpl, Mei Lin has worked with a number of our teams, making an impact everywhere she goes and educating our employees on working with people with disabilities. Mei Lin is also an accomplished speaker and has delivered powerful speeches around the topics of hiring someone with a disability and disability employment in Ireland.

She has spoken at internal events including Cpl's Zero Discrimination Day,at the launch of the Open Doors Project in front of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and with other companies such as The Rehab Group and GECAS.

Mei Lin recently completed a documentary with IDS-TILDA, 'Ageing with PrIDe - Learning from Ten Years of IDS-TILDA'. The documentary discusses a study researching the lives of people with intellectual disabilities who are ageing in Ireland. Click below to watch in full.

We are so proud of all of the work Mei Lin does both with Cpl and in the community and are happy to celebrate this day with her.
