Overview
A full-time opportunity is available for a Team Leader within a busy PPE Certification department. This role involves leading a technical team responsible for assessing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) under EU and UK regulations, ensuring products comply with relevant standards and can be certified for CE/UKCA marking.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Performance
- Lead, motivate, and inspire the certification team to deliver a high‑quality, complaint‑free service.
- Ensure all customer queries are handled promptly and professionally.
- Oversee on‑time, in‑full delivery of certification outputs.
- Monitor team KPIs and provide regular forecasts to management.
- Support recruitment, appraisals, coaching, and ongoing people development.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Deliver presentations, attend trade fairs, and contribute technical promotional material.
- Work closely with sales teams to support promotional activities.
- Communicate certification processes, requirements, and progress clearly to clients.
Technical Certification Work
- Conduct certification assessments in line with PPE regulations.
- Interpret PPE performance standards accurately.
- Review technical documentation and prepare draft certificates.
- Collaborate closely with internal testing teams and support cross‑departmental cooperation.
- Complete “second checking” of documentation and assessments.
Continuous Improvement & Standards
- Participate in national and international standards committees.
- Contribute to shaping regulation and maintaining internal expertise.
- Promote continuous improvement across equipment, processes, and accreditation scope.
- Deputise for the line manager where required.

Essential Requirements
- Broad technical background and strong understanding of technical concepts.
- Demonstrable leadership and coaching experience.
- Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
- Strong communication, project management, and time management capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Experience working with customers and adapting to change.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong relationship‑building skills.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the PPE industry.
- Understanding of European legislation relating to CE/UKCA marking.
- Experience within testing/certification/manufacturing environments.
