Ryan Preston is Chief Financial Officer at Cpl, based in Dublin, and a member of the Group Executive Team. He brings more than 30 years of experience scaling global, technology-enabled businesses across Plc and Private Equity environments, with deep expertise in strategic value creation, M&A activity, balance sheet restructuring, capital allocation, and building best-in-class finance teams and systems for high-growth organisations.
Before joining Cpl, Ryan served as Group Chief Financial Officer at FD Technologies Plc, where he architected and executed the separation of three business units — KX, First Derivative, and MRP creating significant shareholder value and transforming the group from a listed consulting business into a fast-growth PE backed enterprise software company. Prior to that, he held CFO roles at Independent News & Media Plc, OVO Energy, and spent nearly two decades at Tesco Plc, rising to CFO for Europe.
As Chief Financial Officer at Cpl, Ryan is responsible for group-wide finance, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, risk management, corporate governance and property. He brings a proven track record of partnering with CEOs and Boards to drive strategic growth, prepare businesses for major liquidity events, and create significant investor value. His experience spans PE-backed and public company environments across Ireland, the UK, the US, and international markets.
Ryan is a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants.
