Expert advice on crafting a CV that gets you noticed, from structure and formatting to industry specific tips.

CV Essentials
Your CV is your first impression. It needs to be clear, concise and tailored to each application. Our consultants review thousands of CVs every year; here’s what they consistently recommend.

Personal statement
Your personal statement sits at the top of your CV and gives the reader a quick summary of who you are, what you bring and what you’re looking for. Keep it to 3-4 sentences.
Tailor it to each application: a generic statement is worse than no statement at all. Reference the specific role type, your key strength and your career direction.
Work experience
List your roles in reverse chronological order. For each, include: job title, company, dates and 3-5 bullet points.
Focus on achievements and impact rather than responsibilities. Use numbers: "increased sales by 25%", "managed a team of 12", "reduced processing time by 40%".
For older roles (5+ years), keep descriptions shorter. 1-2 lines is enough.
Skills and education
List technical skills, certifications and tools relevant to the role. Group them logically (e.g., "Programming Languages", "Project Management Tools").
Include education in reverse chronological order. For experienced professionals, keep this section brief. Your work experience speaks louder.
