Children's Disability Network Team (CHO7)

The Children’s Disability Network Team incorporating CRC, Enable Ireland, the HSE, Kare and Stewarts Care have joined together as a Consortium for the CHO7 area to recruit for a number of Healthcare Professionals across Dublin South, Kildare and West Wicklow.

The Children's Disability services are available to children and young people up to the age of 18. The Children's Disability Network Team consists of health and social care professionals experienced in delivering services to children with disabilities. Each team member offers expertise in a particular aspect of child development.

Members of the Children’s Disability Network Team work closely together to provide a wide range of services and supports for children and their families.

The CRC is a voluntary organisation and national charity working with children and adults with disabilities and currently employs approximately 400 people. CRC Children’s Disability Network Team is currently co-located with Scoil Mochua, a special school in Clondalkin for children with disabilities. In February 2023, the CDNT will be moving to a state of the art, brand new HSE Primary Care Centre on Boot Road, in Clondalkin. Our children’s services have two main divisions:

Regional general disability services in Dublin City and County, including CHO7, that reconfigured and grew to five new teams under the new model of care in September 2021. Our children’s network teams work with parents and families to make a positive difference despite the challenges that can come with disabilities. We offer specific medical and clinical services for children, young people and adults with disabilities.

CRC also has a national specialist multidisciplinary services providing expertise to children with physical disabilities from every county in Ireland. This national specialist services team provides a range of medical, therapeutic and assistive technology services to children with complex disabilities and rare conditions.

We are the trustees for two special schools in Clontarf and Clondalkin which are responsible for the education of 161 children with disabilities.

Enable Ireland provide therapy and support services to over 9,400 children and adults with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities from 43 locations in 15 counties across Ireland.

Covering childhood to adulthood, our expert teams work with the individual and their family on a plan for each life stage.

We understand that every family is unique and has diverse needs. Our approach to providing services puts the child and family at the centre of all decision-making that affects them. We provide families with the knowledge and supports to make informed decisions and we build our services around their needs.

Enable Ireland’s mission is to work in partnership with those who use our services to achieve maximum independence, choice and inclusion in their communities.

Enable Ireland is the lead agency for three newly established Children’s Disability Network Teams in Kildare and Dublin Southwest. These teams are based in Naas, Tymon and Ballyboden.

Enable Ireland employees over 1,200 people and is an organisation that makes a real difference to the lives of children and adults with disabilities in Ireland and ranked 8th in the healthcare division of the Irish Independent’s Best Employers 2022 list.

The HSE provides public health and social care services to everyone living in Ireland. The HSE provides and funds a range of services for people with disabilities. These services include basic health services as well as assessment, rehabilitation, income maintenance, community care and residential care respite, home care and daycare.

Some services are provided directly by the HSE and some by voluntary organisations with grant aid from the HSE.

Health services for people with a Disability

People with disabilities are entitled to services which include medical cards, prescribed medicines, medical and surgical aids and appliances, hospital services, dental, optical and aural services. People with disabilities are entitled to avail of the range of community care services including public health nurse (PHN), home help, personal assistance, psychological services, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social work services, physiotherapy, daycare and respite.

Children’s Disability Network Teams

Children’s Disability Network Teams are for children aged from birth to 18 years who have complex needs. A child has complex needs if they have a range of difficulties which need the support of a team of professionals who work very closely together. There are 11 Children’s Teams spread across DSKWW.

KARE is an innovative and progressive voluntary organisation committed to providing an individualised service, based on best practice, to over 400 children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. The organisation is in existence since 1967 and has developed and grown to provide a full range of high-quality services in Mid/South Kildare, East Offaly and West Wicklow. We work with each individual who uses our service to support them to develop their skills and abilities so that they can live the life of their choice.

KARE is the lead agency for South Kildare West Wicklow interdisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team. In line with Progressing Children’s Disability Services (PDS), these teams are based in Athy and Kildare.

Working with KARE you will be offered continuing professional development and the opportunity to work with an experienced interdisciplinary team, providing supports to children aged 0-18 years who present with complex needs. You will work in partnership with children and young people with disabilities and their families, to support their development and to enable active participation in community life.

Stewarts Care is a charitable organisation that provides community-based services to over 2000 adults and children across Dublin, Kildare and Meath. We are dedicated to achieving our vision through empowering and supporting individuals with different abilities to have an enriched life experience based on their own decisions and life choices.

Stewarts Care is the lead agency for two newly established interdisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT 5 and CDNT 6). In line with Progressing Children’s Disability Services (PDS), these teams are based in Palmerstown, Dublin (CDNT6) and Rossecourt, Lucan (CDNT5).

Stewarts Care employs over 1200 people and we know and recognise that our team is central to achieving the six strategic goals of Our Shared Ambition: Stewarts Care Strategy (2022-2026). With the recent launch of our ambitious new strategy, our entire team is recommitting itself to providing optimal supports to the people that benefit from the services Stewarts Care provides.
