About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to join a well-established food manufacturing business. The successful candidate will support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety and sustainability programmes across the site while helping to drive a positive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental & Sustainability
- Support the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability strategies.
- Monitor environmental performance including energy usage, waste management, water consumption and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Lead sustainability reporting activities.
- Support certification programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainability-focused projects.
- Contribute to environmental compliance and reporting requirements.
Health & Safety
- Maintain and continuously improve Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and internal audits.
- Deliver Health & Safety training programmes, including Manual Handling.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Act as a key contact for regulatory bodies and insurance providers.
Compliance & Auditing
- Coordinate and support external audits.
- Maintain accurate risk management and compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Irish and EU Environmental, Health & Safety legislation.
- Support customer, regulatory and third-party audit requirements.
Requirements
- Degree qualification in Environmental Science, Health & Safety, Sustainability or related discipline.
- 2-4 years' experience in an EHS position within manufacturing, food production or a regulated environment.
- Certified Manual Handling Trainer.
- Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Sustainability programme experience would be advantageous.
