About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global financial services organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing technology team supporting critical investment and operational platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for a data professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, partnering with stakeholders across international teams to build scalable, high-quality data solutions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions that support business-critical investment functions. You will work closely with both technical and business stakeholders, contributing to innovative projects while driving best practices in data engineering and database development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Oracle database solutions.
- Build and enhance data movement, ETL, and integration processes.
- Perform SQL and PL/SQL development, optimisation, and performance tuning.
- Analyse complex business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple geographic locations.
- Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps initiatives to improve delivery efficiency.
- Support data modelling and relational database design activities.
- Leverage emerging technologies, including AI-driven automation, to enhance development processes and delivery speed.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years' experience working with Oracle databases, SQL, and PL/SQL.
- Strong background in data engineering, ETL development, and data migration.
- Proven experience with SQL performance tuning and optimisation.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Knowledge of source control systems and development best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively within globally distributed teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Informatica or similar ETL tools.
- Power BI or other data visualisation platforms.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory, and SonarQube.
- Experience with Generative AI tools and automation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of logical data modelling and relational database design.
