Tusla was established in 2014 and is responsible for a range of statutory functions including provision of child protection, alternative care, specified regulatory services and a range of family support services to enable its staff to make an important contribution to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for children living in Ireland.

It represents the most comprehensive reform of child protection, early intervention and family support services ever undertaken in Ireland.

The Agency operates under the Child and Family Agency Act 2013, a progressive piece of legislation with children at its heart and families viewed as the foundation of a strong healthy community where children can flourish. Partnership and co-operation in the delivery of seamless services to children and families are also central to the Act.

Tusla has commenced a major improvement programme with significant focus on Practice, Culture and Structure.

• Permanent employment contract including sponsorship of a critical skills employment permit

• A recognised qualification as a Professionally Qualified Social Worker and professional registration in your country of practice
• Eligible to apply for registration as a Professionally Qualified Social Worker with CORU, the Health & Social Care Professionals regulatory authority
• Experience and an interest in working in children and families services
• A full clean driver's licence is desirable
• Police clearance in countries you have lived and/or worked in for a period of 6 months or more
• Professional approach to work
• Flexibility in work practice
• Excellent verbal and written English

Working as a Social Worker in Ireland – CORU, The Health and Social Care Regulator

In order to practice as a Social Worker in Ireland, you are required to be registered with CORU, the regulator for health and social care professionals in Ireland. CORU’s role is to protect the public by promoting high standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence through statutory registration of health and social care professionals.

If you have qualified as a Social Worker outside the Ireland you will need to apply to CORU to have your Social Work qualification recognised as well as applying for registration.
