🔹 Finance Operations Overview – Key Responsibilities
Position Overview
The GL Supervisor / Senior Financial Analyst oversees key accounting operations, month-end closing, and reporting accuracy across general ledger, working capital, treasury, and compliance. This role plays a vital part in maintaining robust financial controls, supporting annual audits, and partnering cross-functionally to optimize supply chain finance.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Ledger & Financial Reporting
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, stock adjustments, and inventory provisioning.
- Prepare monthly analytical reviews for individual entities and assist in group financial consolidation.
- Maintain reporting accuracy, support shared services, and compile audit documentation for annual reviews.
2. Supply Chain Finance & Inventory
- Track inventory, manage supplier returns/credit notes, and ensure precise cost allocations and provisions.
- Conduct regular physical-to-system stock reconciliations and monitor inventory ageing.
- Partner with Logistics to optimize working capital investment and improve operational efficiency.
3. Working Capital, Treasury & Banking
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable: monitor creditor/debtor reconciliations, invoice matching, credit notes, and revenue cut-offs.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations in group reporting currency.
- Monitor foreign exchange (FX) exposure, aligning cash positions with FX liabilities and inventory/sales valuations.
4. Tax, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with regulatory deadlines.
- Drive task ownership, adhere to group best practices, and safeguard company assets.
Experience & Qualifications
- Professional Designation: Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent accounting designation.
- Education: Relevant tertiary degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in core accounting principles, GL management, and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Industry Experience: Background in supply chain/logistics accounting or payroll review is a strong plus.
- Soft Skills: Collaborative mindset with clear communication skills, high accountability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
