Senior AI Research Scientist
We are working with a highly ambitious technology company building next-generation AI systems. The organisation operates in stealth mode and is assembling a small team of exceptional researchers to tackle fundamental challenges in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about advancing the state of the art and enjoys working on difficult research problems with significant autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Conduct original research in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Design and evaluate novel algorithms, model architectures and training methodologies.
- Explore new approaches to reasoning, representation learning and model capabilities.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate research into scalable systems.
- Contribute to publications, patents and technical thought leadership where appropriate.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent research experience in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related field.
- Strong mathematical foundations including optimisation, probability and statistics.
- Extensive experience with Python and modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
- Demonstrated record of impactful research through publications, industry research, patents, open-source contributions or equivalent achievements.
- Deep understanding of modern machine learning techniques and current research trends.
Desirable
- Publications at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AISTATS, ACL, EMNLP or CVPR.
- Experience with large-scale model training or foundation models.
- Experience working in high-performance research environments.
