Process Technician
Limerick - Permanent Position | Day & Night Shifts
Are you a hands-on technical professional with a passion for automation, manufacturing excellence, and problem-solving? We are looking for a Process Technician to join our high-performing manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the production of high-quality ophthalmic lenses within a highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
As a Process Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimising production equipment, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational performance. Selected technicians will also have the opportunity to support calibration activities across the manufacturing site, particularly during night and weekend shifts.
What You'll Be Doing
Core Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain high-volume automated production lines.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
- Carry out fault-finding, preventative maintenance, and corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on performance, quality, and yield enhancement.
- Support quality improvement projects and process optimisation activities.
- Ensure excellent housekeeping standards are maintained within your work area.
- Promote and uphold Health & Safety, Environmental, Credo, and Behavioural Standards across the team.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to achieve operational objectives.
Additional Responsibilities (Shift Calibration Support)
For technicians selected to support calibration activities, additional responsibilities will include:
- Providing calibration support to manufacturing operations during nights and weekends when the central calibration team is unavailable.
- Performing calibration activities in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
- Reporting and documenting any calibration non-conformances or procedural deviations.
- Developing, maintaining, and improving calibration procedures and documentation.
- Ensuring calibration equipment, standards, and supplies are available and maintained.
- Maintaining accurate calibration records, databases, and instrument history files.
- Supporting internal and external audits.
- Driving effective closure of Quality System calibration NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Level 6 or Level 7 qualification in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Moulding Technology
- Or a related technical discipline
Desirable Skills & Experience
Ideally, you'll have 4-5 years' experience working with some or all of the following:
- Pneumatic systems
- PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- Machine automation
- Equipment setup and changeovers
- Pick-and-place machinery
- High-volume manufacturing environments
- Packaging and print equipment
- Mechanical setup and maintenance
- Injection moulding processes
- Instrument calibration and/or physics-based applications
Additional advantages include:
