Position Overview
Reporting to the Design Team Leader, the Mechanical Designer will create and maintain 3D models, fabrication drawings, and BOMs for biopharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, including pressure vessels, piping systems, and agitation assemblies. The role requires the use of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD to deliver high-quality design documentation and support project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain 3D models, assembly drawings, detail drawings, spool drawings, and BOMs.
Design piping systems and agitation assemblies based on P&IDs and customer requirements.
Review customer specifications and ensure designs meet project objectives.
Generate and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
Participate in design reviews with customers and internal teams.
Support manufacturing by resolving design-related queries.
Produce as-built documentation and maintain project records.
Ensure designs comply with company procedures and industry standards.
Travel occasionally to support customer and project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Level 6 qualification in CAD, Drafting, Mechanical Design, or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of post-graduate design/drafting experience.
Proficiency in 3D parametric CAD software.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Good understanding of drafting standards, fabrication processes, and mechanical design principles.
Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 2D/3D.
BOM and ECN management.
ERP systems, preferably SyteLine.
ASME/BPE standards and bioprocess equipment design.
Experience delivering projects from concept through manufacturing.
Ideal Candidate: A detail-oriented Mechanical Designer with CAD experience and an interest in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or process equipment design.
