Part-Qualified Accountant

Typically 1.5 to 2.5 years of practice experience. Past the basic data entry stage, likely cleared CAP2/Part 2 exams, and capable of managing mid-sized files with minimal oversight.

Active ACA/ACCA/CPA student sitting final-year exams (FAEs or equivalent).
Prepare full statutory accounts under FRS 102/105, draft corporate and personal tax returns (CT1s and Form 11s), and run point on smaller audits or specific sections of larger corporate jobs. Deal with daily client queries regarding payroll or bookkeeping.
Familiarity with standard production software (Surf, Relate, Xero, Sage), intermediate Excel skills, and the confidence to guide incoming trainees.

Newly Qualified Accountant (NQ)

The transition point from operational tasks to full ownership. Exams and logbooks are complete, and the professional is ready to act as the main link between the junior team and the Partner.

Freshly ACA, ACCA, or CPA qualified with 3 to 4 years of continuous training in a reputable firm.
Act as Senior on-site for major corporate audits, review files and tax computations prepared by juniors, and ensure files are near completion before Partner review. Manage workload during the autumn ROS deadline peak.
Strong technical knowledge of Irish GAAP/IFRS, solid time management, and the natural capability to mentor trainees and manage client relationships directly.

Qualified / Senior Practice Accountant (Post-Qualified)

Experienced operator with significant post-qualification experience (PQE) in practice. Focus shifts from file management to portfolio management, billing targets, and team leadership.

ACA/ACCA/CPA qualified with multiple years of post-qualification experience specifically within professional practice.
Core Responsibilities: Manage a dedicated portfolio of clients across Cork and Munster. Oversee team resourcing, lead advisory or complex tax and corporate finance projects, and handle practice management tasks like billing and fee reviews.
Key Traits: Commercial sharp-mindedness, strong client retention skills, and a proven track record of managing staff and keeping jobs profitable.
