About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading manufacturing and engineering solutions provider serving a diverse range of industries including food processing, pharmaceutical, brewing, environmental and industrial sectors.
Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic production engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with customers and internal stakeholders, delivering innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions from concept through to production.
The Role
The successful candidate will take ownership of engineering projects, acting as a technical lead throughout the project lifecycle. This position combines technical engineering expertise, customer engagement and project management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects from initial customer enquiry through to production and delivery.
- Review customer specifications, drawings and technical requirements.
- Assess feasibility and manufacturability of components and assemblies.
- Develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers and internal production teams.
- Create, review and maintain engineering documentation and drawings.
- Support estimating, quoting and project planning activities.
- Coordinate project schedules and resources to meet customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate project records and technical documentation.
- Build strong relationships with customers and identify opportunities for business growth.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing functions.
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Project Engineering role.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent.
- Proven project ownership and delivery experience.
- Strong technical problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Customer-facing engineering experience.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable Experience
- Manufacturing, fabrication or production engineering experience.
- Costing, estimating and quotation preparation.
- Feasibility and manufacturability reviews.
- Account management or customer relationship management.
- Stainless steel, sheet metal or precision engineering exposure.
