Salary: €55,000 - €60,000 (DOE) plus mileage, 30 days annual leave, bank holidays

We’re recruiting a Fire Prevention Officer to join our client’s expert team providing high-level fire safety and property services in the Cork and Kerry region. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring legal and regulatory fire safety standards are met – and exceeded – across a diverse property portfolio, from hospitals to public buildings.
About the Role
As Fire Prevention Officer, you’ll be the go-to expert for all things fire safety. Reporting to the office Engineering Director, you’ll be responsible for assessing risk, developing fire prevention strategies, leading training, and ensuring compliance with regulations. You’ll carry out inspections, investigate incidents, conduct fire drills, and lead on safety standards across new and existing infrastructure projects. This role combines practical inspection work with strategic planning and offers real variety, purpose, and the opportunity to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, fire equipment, and escape routes
- Develop and implement fire evacuation plans tailored to a variety of premises
- Deliver fire safety training and drills across locations
- Advise on equipment standards and fire prevention best practices
- Investigate accidents and produce professional reports
- Monitor external contractors’ compliance with safety regulations
- Participate in safety and risk committees and contribute to planning and budgeting for fire safety works
- Maintain records, report on fire safety performance, and identify training needs
- Support the development of emergency plans and advise on government fire safety standards
What You’ll Need
- A Level 7 qualification (HETAC/NFQ) in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Fire and Safety-related role
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- A keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety
- Equivalent qualifications will also be considered.
