Fire Prevention Officer

12-month contract (renewable)
Salary €55,000 - €60,000 with annual increments
Standard Working Hours; 35 hours per week
A public-sector organisation within the Capital & Estates environment is seeking a Fire Prevention Officer to support fire safety, risk management and statutory compliance across a portfolio of buildings in the Cork & Kerry region.
The Role
You will provide professional fire safety and risk management advice, ensuring compliance with fire, health & safety legislation while supporting staff, service users and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular fire safety inspections of buildings, escape routes and fire-fighting equipment
- Develop, review and implement fire orders, evacuation plans and emergency procedures
- Monitor contractor compliance with fire and safety standards on construction sites
- Arrange and oversee fire drills, inspections and testing of fire safety systems
- Investigate fire-related incidents and prepare reports as required
- Maintain accurate fire safety records and provide regular reports to management
- Advise on fire protection standards, building regulations and risk assessments
- Support training initiatives and promote fire safety awareness across sites
Requirements
- Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety, Building Services or Building Surveying
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a comparable fire safety or fire prevention role
- Strong working knowledge of fire safety legislation and building regulations and best practice
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, organisational and reporting skills
