The Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing production activities and supervising all shift operatives to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, product specifications, and safety standards. The role requires a hands-on technical background—ideally a fitter, mechanic, or someone with experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of injection moulding machinery is a distinct advantage.
The supervisor will oversee the smooth operation of production machinery, including troubleshooting, process optimisation, and carrying out mould changeovers. Ensuring high-quality output and meeting production targets are central to this role. The Shift Supervisor is also accountable for maintaining a safe working environment in line with company policies and Irish legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee production to meet agreed quality standards and specifications.
- Maximise production output while ensuring product quality is never compromised.
- Carry out mould changeovers, machine maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault-finding, and process optimisation.
- Supervise, train, and motivate operatives to achieve high performance standards. Maintain training records and ensure refresher training is provided where required.
- Conduct performance appraisals and manage staff fairly, referring disciplinary matters to management where necessary.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, cleanroom procedures, and hygiene regulations.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment, delivering safety training and ensuring compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
- Plan and organise production to meet targets in a cost-effective and efficient manner, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor and review:
- Product quality (sampling and testing),
- Production output,
- Reject rates and non-conforming product,
- Operator performance.
- Ensure sufficient raw materials are available throughout the shift and for handover to the next shift.
- Provide clear and effective shift handovers to ensure continuity of production.
Candidate Profile
- Technical background, ideally a qualified fitter, mechanic, or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Injection moulding experience is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
