Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering environment.
You will take ownership of key projects, support and mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with production teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop product designs in line with project requirements
· Produce high-quality engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation
· Liaise effectively with production teams to support manufacturing processes
· Generate cut lists, jigs, and utilise nesting software (training provided if required)
· Create user manuals and technical guides for engineers and end users
· Maintain and manage a log of design issues, ensuring effective resolution
· Enhance and improve existing product designs
· Select appropriate materials based on design and customer requirements
· Conduct structural calculations, stress analysis, and tolerance assessments
· Prepare design specifications, reports, and procurement documentation
· Ensure compliance with quality standards and health & safety procedures
· Propose and implement design changes with consideration to cost, feasibility, and timelines
Requirements
· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within heavy engineering
· Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
· Strong technical drawing capability
