Location: Republic of Ireland (This is a hybrid working role between home / site / Office) Ideally the successful candidate can be present in the Galway office at least once a week, however our client has offices Nationwide and can work from any office)

Summary:
This role is a senior, multidisciplinary position combining health and safety expertise with infrastructural risk management. You will act as the bridge between operational safety and corporate governance, ensuring infrastructure is safe, risks are managed proactively, and policies are implemented consistently The post-holder ensures that healthcare facilities operate safely and compliantly, while managing risks, training staff, liaising with regulatory bodies, and supporting the planning and development of the healthcare estate. It demands technical knowledge, strategic leadership, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Purpose of the Role:
To provide expert risk management advice for the protection of staff, patients, and the public in relation to infrastructural and safety issues across the Healthcare Estate. The role ensures compliance with legal, statutory, and HSE safety requirements, develops and implements policies and procedures, and monitors health, safety, and infrastructural risk management across facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and regularly review safety and infrastructural risk management systems.
- Integrate Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices into daily operations and ensure proper documentation.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections for maintenance and healthcare facilities.
- Manage incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up.
- Advise on compliance with legislation, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), Building Regulations, and guidance from authorities such as HIQA and the Health & Safety Authority.
- Monitor contractors and minor capital projects for safety and risk compliance.
- Advise and guide Estates staff on infrastructural risk management, including asbestos, legionella, radon, and other hazards.
- Assist in emergency planning and training needs analysis for staff development.
- Promote sustainable practices within Estates operations.
Eligibility & Qualifications:
- Level 8 (or higher) qualification in Health & Safety, Fire Engineering, Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or Surveying, with professional membership where applicable.
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant post-qualification experience, including fire safety, construction health and safety, and infrastructural risk management.
- Knowledge of HSE protocols, national and international standards, legislation, building regulations, and healthcare facility requirements.

Salary; This position is on the Public Sector Grade VIII, the first point on the scale is circa €80,000 with annual increments. 30 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays. Standard working hours is 35 hours weekly. It is a blended/hybrid model; home, office site. Mileage / Travel expenses are provided.
