ABOUT THE LAND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
The Land Development Agency (LDA) is a commercial, semi-State body that seeks to maximise the supply of affordable homes on public and other land in a financially sustainable manner, supporting the creation of thriving communities and delivering ongoing positive social impact. It is overseen by an independent board of directors and is funded with €5 billion of equity capital committed by the Government. It is also permitted to borrow up to €1.25bn
The LDA has commenced construction on a number of projects on State land and has a delivery pipeline in excess of 17,000 homes. It also works in partnership with the country’s largest and most experienced homebuilders and will deliver a further 8,000 homes under the Government’s Project Tosaigh initiative.
Additionally, the LDA is working on large-scale longer-term strategic areas by master-planning and bringing forward planning applications in locations such as Limerick Colbert Quarter, the Digital Hub in Dublin and Sandy Road in Galway.
Summary:
The Tax Analyst will support the company’s tax function across all areas of taxation, with a focus on Irish corporation tax, VAT, and relevant property-related taxes (e.g., stamp duty, LPT, RCT). The role will work closely with internal finance, legal, and development teams as well as external advisors to ensure the company remains fully compliant and tax efficient.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation, completion and filing of indirect and direct tax returns.
- Co-ordinate tax advisory for acquisitions, disposals and development projects.
- Provide tax advisory support to various business units within the company.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives in tax reporting.
- Maintain and update tax records and documentation.
- Support audits and provide documentation and analysis as required.
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and implement efficiencies.
- Liaise with external advisors to ensure compliance with local tax legislation.
Requirements:
- Professional qualification (e.g., Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), ACA/ACCA) or currently pursuing.
- 2–4 years’ experience in tax (practice or industry), ideally with exposure to the Real Estate sector.
- Strong understanding of Irish tax legislation, especially in VAT.
- Familiarity with Real Estate tax issues such as capital allowances, stamp duty, and RCT is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/tax software (e.g., Sage)
- Proficient in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks.
