Medical Administrator
Location: Dublin 4
Job Type: Full-Time / Temporary contract (2/3 months, potentially longer)
Reports To: Practice Manager / Clinic Director
Overview
We are seeking a professional and organised Medical Administrator to join our busy clinic based in Dublin 4. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing efficient administrative support, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic, and delivering a high standard of customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient appointments, scheduling, cancellations, and follow-up bookings.
- Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Handle incoming phone calls, emails, and general enquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update clinic databases.
- Process referrals, medical reports, and correspondence.
- Liaise with doctors, nurses, consultants, and other healthcare professionals.
- Prepare and manage patient files in compliance with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
- Process payments, issue receipts, and manage basic billing administration.
- Assist with insurance claim documentation and administration where required.
- Monitor clinic supplies and place orders when necessary.
- Support the Practice Manager with general administrative duties and reporting.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical administration, healthcare administration, or reception role.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience using medical practice management systems is advantageous.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of confidentiality.
- Professional, patient-focused approach.
Desirable Qualifications
- Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Secretarial qualification.
- Experience working in a GP practice, consultant clinic, or private healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administration processes.
