On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a Head Nurse Manager for Wexford. This role will also involve Clinic Manager responsibilities for Wexford Clinic and will have 2 other Clinic Managers reporting in.
The Head Nurse Provider Business will be responsible for ensuring the provision of service excellence, at all times and to all customers, with patient, customer and employee safety paramount in all activities.
Ensure the safe delivery of patient care in line with, and as required by, company and relevant Parent Unit policies.
The Head Nurse will manage the Profit & Loss of the nursing services in the for the Provider business with leadership responsibility for the Ambulatory Channel.
Profitably operate the nursing services to and within budget by leading the nursing teams to deliver within our Ambulatory Channel. Ensuring all aspects of nursing financial reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Successfully create and execute, a continual road map of growth within the Ambulatory channel, working alongside the Nurse Management Team to develop an aligned approach and brand to ensure we can compete and deliver across the next decade.
There will be a requirement to ensure a partnership approach across the group to maximise opportunities and synergies.
Introduce, maintain and develop management control systems to ensure that every aspect of service performance and quality is continually reviewed and improved.
The Head Nurse holds direct responsibility for the local management, monitoring, compliance and reporting, within the company Quality Management System, ISO 9001: 2015 & Good Dialysis Practice.
This role will undertake the Clinic Manager role and is responsible for the local operational, quality and vigilance management of the Dialysis Unit in Wexford with support and supervision from the Renal Business Lead. Encompassing efficient implementation and assessment of standards of patient care and needs, managing effective use of unit resources, whilst equating the balance between quality and cost efficiency.
Act in full accordance with the Hospital Information Quality Authority (HIQA) registered person requirements and work within agreed local/corporate and national statue policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- To provide clear and inspirational leadership to the nursing teams, ensuring an efficient, effective and engaged workforce, driving forward best clinical practice in the provision of high-quality care
- Leadership of contract review meetings to ensure effective relationships are built and maintenance of existing business.
- Build & maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders for existing contracts and potential new business opportunities.
- To lead the nursing teams in having passion for a continuous quality improvement approach, ensuring successful delivery of sustained improvements in quality and safety.
- To manage direct reports, adopting an effective approach to performance management ensuring regular one to one meetings, leading to end of year reviews.
- To support direct reports with effective performance management for their units and ensure the contribution of all staff is maximized and valued.
- To be responsible for the health and safety of staff at work and liaising with the relevant departments to resolve any issues.
- To maintain own self clinical skills and NMBI registration and revalidation requirements.
- Work with the Nursing Management Team to identify, expand and develop commercial opportunities, including direct involvement with business tenders and monitoring market trends
- To ensure that the company and NMBI Code of Conduct standards, management of nursing practice and revalidation are disseminated and implemented throughout the nursing teams.
- To ensure that robust contingency plans are in place to meet the requirements of patients across the Nursing teams.
- Monitor and maintain agreed KPI’s for the nursing teams.
- To actively manage the Nursing budget, profit and loss, driving efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Promote cross-divisional working and collaboration within the Ambulatory division and across the company
- Communicate with and work with Ambulatory Channel management to identify further customer alignment and integration opportunities.
- Ensure that goals and objectives are aligned to:
- Marketing Communications & Services Team to ensure an integrated approach to marketing and customer communication
- Legal, Regulatory and Supply Chain Teams to deliver safe and compliant products and services to our customers
- To work with your HR business partner and Nurse management teams to identify and recruit appropriate resources to meet the demands of the business. Identifying sustainable workforce planning through effective recruitment, succession planning and retention of staff within the nursing teams.
- To work with the Regulatory and Quality Manager to ensure the successful delivery of sustained improvements in Quality and patient safety.
- Document, review, update and implementing standard operating procedures, operational procedures and supporting documentation within iGrafx
- Management and reporting of the Management Review to Corporate
- Attendance at annual Quality Meetings driven by Corporate
Process Owner of Quality related processes including CAPA, Audits and Document Control
- To be the nursing representative for the company’s s Clinical Governance Board.
- To contribute to the development and review of the service business plans to ensure that they are consistent with the strategy.
- To be the nursing service representative at internal and external conferences and workgroups, networking with relevant Stakeholders.
- Establish our reputation as a company with best practice in patient care.
- To effectively administer the company expenses/holiday policy.
- Support the marketing function with provision of clinical advice during the development of literature/new therapies as well as competitor activities.
- To attend local and national seminars as appropriate. Keep updated with professional issues and developments in practices, providing feedback to colleagues.
- To demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and an awareness of changes in clinical practice and provide feedback.
- To ensure adequate processes for all departments are in place to meet agreed work instructions.
- Ensure internal and external audits are performed in accordance with the schedules.
- To ensure adequate processes are in place for direct report departments to comply with product quality complaints or adverse drug reactions are documented and the essential minimum information is collected and forwarded to the Regulatory Affairs Department the same day they are received.
- To act in a professional manner at all times in order to promote a positive image of the Company.
- To provide regular updates and reports as required.

Requirements
- Post Graduate Diploma in Renal Nursing or equivalent
- Registered Nurse with current NMBI registration
- Mentorship/Teaching & Assessing qualification
- Leadership Qualification (or attain within 12 months in post)
- Strong experience in commercial, financial acumen
- Flexibility to travel as will have monthly meetings – usually in Portlaoise.
- Full driving License
