Head of Procurement Category Management | Dublin | Contract
A leading bank is seeking an experienced Head of Category to lead the development and delivery of long-term category strategy across a defined area of spend. This is a senior commercial leadership role with responsibility for driving value, innovation, resilience, and regulatory compliance in support of the Group’s transformation agenda.
Initial 6 month contract with a possibility of extension
Hybrid – 2 days in Dublin city centre
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver end-to-end category strategy, informed by market insight, demand analysis, and emerging supplier and technology trends.
- Lead strategic sourcing, major tenders, and high-value commercial negotiations to deliver sustainable value, performance improvement, and cost optimisation.
- Build strong partnerships with senior business leaders to align category plans with Group priorities and transformation programmes.
- Drive supplier performance and innovation through effective supplier relationship management, pilots, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Ensure all sourcing activity complies with regulatory, outsourcing, operational resilience, and data governance requirements
- Prepare high-quality commercial proposals and papers for senior governance forums, including Executive and Board committees.
- Lead, coach, and develop procurement colleagues while strengthening analytics, market intelligence, and category management capability.
Requirements:
- Significant experience in procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing within a regulated environment.
- Strong commercial track record delivering enterprise-level value through complex supplier and contract negotiations.
- Experience working with categories of professional services or technology
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and support large-scale transformation or digitisation programmes.
Desirable
- Experience with joint ventures, co-sourcing, or strategic alliance models.
- Exposure to innovation delivery, market scanning, or pilot initiatives.
- Professional procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS).
