Our client, Coimisiún na Meán, is hiring for two Irish Language Managers at HEO level to join their Media Landscape division.
About This Role
Role Purpose
The Irish-Language Manager will support Coimisiún na Meán in fulfilling its statutory duties and objectives in relation to the Irish language, both as a public service body and as Ireland’s media regulator.
Working within the newly established Irish Language function and reporting to the Head of Irish Language, the role will contribute to the implementation of obligations under the Official Languages Acts and the Broadcasting Act 2009, including the promotion and provision of the Irish language within the media sector. The role will also support the development and delivery of Irish-language policies and initiatives across the organisation, ensuring a coordinated and strategic approach as Coimisiún na Meán continues to grow and expand its remit.
About the Media Landscape Division
The Media Landscape Division comprises five teams, responsible for regulating broadcasters and video-on-demand providers and also includes supporting and developing the Irish media sector. The new Irish Language Function sits within this division and has responsibility for developing Irish-language policies for Coimisiún na Meán, ensuring compliance with all Irish language statutory obligations and for the promotion of the Irish language across all media.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the design of an organisation-wide policy for the Irish Language.
Develop organisational processes, procedures and staff guidance and training programmes and documentation to ensure successful implementation of Coimisiún na Meán’s internal Irish-language policies and governance requirements.
Develop and monitor the integration of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with new statutory monitoring and reporting requirements of the Official Language Acts.
Deliver high-quality translations from English to Irish of internal Coimisiún na Meán documentation, from time to time.
Support the development of guidelines for internal and external translators to ensure that the translated versions of projects in the Irish language meet high quality standards and adhere to consistent, correct and validated terminology and style.
Prepare project plans, reports, draft decisions and support periodic reviews and communications activities.
Engaging with a range of external stakeholders, including but not limited to the broadcasting sector, industry networks and Government Departments.
Participate in cross-functional working groups.
Undertake research and data-gathering to inform evidence-based decision making on the adequacy and standard of the Irish language services delivered.
Work with the internal communications team and cross-functionally, to ensure consistency and accuracy in the choice of terminology used in both the English and Irish languages.
Manage the implementation of the recommendations of Coimisiún na Meán’s Review of Irish in the Media.
Represent Coimisiún na Meán and speak at Irish-language events and initiatives.

About You
Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
Professional proficiency in the Irish language at level C1, with the ability to communicate fluently and accurately in both written and spoken Irish.
Excellent translation skills, with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality Irish language outputs.
Experience of managing projects and/or operational areas, including team management experience.
A proven track record in developing, implementing and/or improving processes and procedures, ideally within a fast-paced environment.
Project management skills, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft products.
Excellent written communication skills, with a proven ability to produce a range of high-quality documents (e.g. reports, briefings, guidelines) in both English and Irish and tailored to different audiences.
Desirable Criteria
Experience working in the public sector
Experience in media, regulatory or governance roles
Proven experience in policy development and/or implementation

•This position is offered on a Permanent basis.
•Full time, 35 hrs per week
•Annual Leave: 29 days per annum
•The role will be a hybrid role combining home and office working. Our current hybrid policy is 2 days in the office.
