London, hybrid (3 days per week in office)
PAYE Contract for 11 months at £22.85 – £36.11 per hour
We are recruiting for a journalist to support our client’s UK and Pan Europe Editorial team in its coverage of breaking business news and industry trends. The ideal candidate will have a track record in fast-paced news environments and strong experience in tracking, verifying and reporting breaking news stories. You’ll deliver accurate, clear and concise copy for live alerts and urgent business news items. Experience engaging with industry experts to add their expertise to news conversations is essential.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor live news sources, inbound pitches and social platforms for emerging stories, and rapidly assess their relevance for the business audience.
· Verify facts and sources quickly in high-pressure, fast-changing news cycles, ensuring information accuracy before publishing.
· Write and publish news items and posts, distributing them to relevant member groups via notifications and the business news banner.
· Coordinate with industry experts on short notice to include timely commentary on breaking stories.
· React in real time to unfolding news by updating posts and notifications as stories develop.
· Work closely with publisher partners to showcase their journalists’ insights and posts as part of our news coverage – broadening reach for both parties.
· Grow and engage audiences through strategic content and community management.
· Help grow and nurture our community of expert contributors, ensuring alignment with our key news topics and editorial priorities.
· Execute strategies for sending notifications to to increase engagement and reach.
· Monitor and analyse the performance of notifications, news stories and posts, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
· 3+ years of experience in breaking news writing in the UK
Preferred Qualifications:
· Great news sense.
· Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong organisational and time-management skills.
· Familiarity with publishing tools and analytics.
· Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva.
· A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
· Ability to multi-task and work across different platforms and channels.
