Role: Project Business Strategist (Biomethane)

This department is keen to secure the supply of energy by facilitating the roll-out of new technologies such as CNG in transport and replacing natural gas with renewable gases such as biomethane and hydrogen working to deliver a net zero carbon network and support Ireland’s journey to a cleaner energy future. Be part of the team investigating alternative energies, analysing, and reporting data and findings supporting informed decisions in relation to the future of energy.
The Role:
Reporting to the Biomethane Programme Manager this person will play a key role as part of the Biomethane Programme team including the development of commercial business cases, financial models, impact assessments policies and procedures. This role requires flexible collaboration across the Commercial team, and across the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Convert the outcomes of the Growth Strategy into action plans and deliverables.
· Providing high quality input and analysis supporting the development and implementation of the biomethane program, specifically in relation to business planning, investment modelling and policy/regulatory development.
· Oversee financial progress on external supported projects and provide progress reports to internal and external stakeholders.
· Develop contracts for Renewable Gas customers and oversee internal and external approval of these contracts and approvals.
· Support engagement with the CRU in further developing the overall regulatory framework for biomethane injection in Ireland in collaboration with the Regulatory team, including assessing and developing further measures as required to ensure the development of the embryonic biomethane industry.
· Contribute to the planning, developing, and progressing of a policy strategy for biomethane in Ireland to advance biomethane and renewable gas in transport ambitions. Identify what policies, both Irish and European, are needed to support appropriate policy responses to national and European consultations.
· Monitor national and European policy developments related to biomethane, energy, renewables, climate change, environment, transport, and heat.
· Participate in Growth projects providing commercial and financial expertise.
· Maintain up-to-date technical and commercial information on the complete Renewable Gas Supply chain with regards to international best practice.
· Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers.
· Liaise and coordinate Renewable Gas working groups to ensure commercial outputs achieved.
· Prepare and present detailed reports on market development progress.
· Support the delivery of the goals of the Biomethane Programme.
· Ensure value for money is achieved at all levels of the Renewable Gas.
· Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
· Relevant third-level qualification together with a minimum of 3-5 years of business analysis experience.
· Proven ability to create, develop and maintain strategic working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proven track record of dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion, along with the ability to communicate complex information to others.
· Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems, propose, and implement solutions.
· You are comfortable with making and taking appropriate decisions.
· Have a commercial mind-set and execute work across multiple teams maintaining a strong commercial focus.
· Must be flexible with a positive attitude to change.
· Demonstrate a commitment to developing new skills in self and others and a track record of getting results through others.
