We are looking for a Research Accountant for our client a well known Educational Institution to work 35 hours per week until February 2026.
Main Purpose of Job
· Provide line management oversight, including staff supervision, workload planning and allocation.
· Manage a Research Accounts Funding Team with approx. 5 direct reports
· System review, upgrade, development and implementation
· Liaison with Internal and External Auditors
· Budget Preparation and Management
· Act in a professional manner in accordance with university policies, procedures and processes
· Lead or be part of project teams and process & efficiency reviews
· Any other duties as assigned by line management or the Bursar
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Financial, Management, Pension and Research Reporting
• Staff management and development.
• Review, upgrade, develop and implement financial systems.
• Liaise with Internal and External Auditors.
• Prepare and manage budgets.
• Act professionally and in accordance with university policies, procedures and processes.
• Lead or contribute to project teams and process/efficiency reviews.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by line management or the Bursar
Skills Required:
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
• Minimum of three years' recent relevant post-qualification experience.
• Proven ability to operate at management level within a large, complex organisation with multiple stakeholders.
• Proficiency in at least two of the following in a large and complex organisation:
o Financial Accounting (income, expenditure, payroll, pensions)
o Management Accounting (financial modelling, forecasting)
o Project Management (budget management and reporting)
