Sales Representative
Location: Dublin (Field Based)
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to drive sales growth, develop new business opportunities, and build strong relationships with existing trade customers. This is a field-based role focused on proactive customer engagement, achieving sales targets, and delivering excellent service and product knowledge to customers within the construction and building trade.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing trade customers, including builders, contractors, and developers
- Act as the main point of contact for customer queries, orders, and account issues
- Conduct regular face-to-face customer visits to strengthen loyalty and retention
New Business Development
- Identify and approach potential new customers within the local and regional area
- Network at trade shows, supplier days, and industry events
- Follow up on leads generated through internal teams, suppliers, or marketing activity
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Achieve or exceed agreed sales targets, gross profit margins, and account growth goals
- Promote the full range of products and services
- Upsell and cross-sell complementary products to maximise order value
Product Knowledge & Advice
- Maintain strong knowledge of building materials, their uses, and alternatives
- Provide technical advice to customers or source information from suppliers as required
- Stay up to date with market trends, competitor activity, and new product launches
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with internal sales, yard, and delivery teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment
- Share customer feedback with management to support service and product improvements
- Coordinate pricing and stock availability with branch management
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales and account activity reports
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records
- Track quotations and follow up to maximise conversion
Credit & Payment Awareness
- Monitor customer accounts and support adherence to agreed payment terms
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience in external sales, ideally within the builders’ merchant or construction sector
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Full, clean driving licence
Desirable
- Knowledge of building materials and their applications
- Experience using CRM systems and sales reporting tools
- Familiarity with a local or regional trade customer base
