Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Summary:
This senior-level engineering role is responsible for designing, validating, and optimizing mechanical and electromechanical systems, ranging from individual components (such as plastics, metals, and instruments) to highly complex integrated systems (including robots, engines, and heat transfer mechanisms). The position requires independent project ownership, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and strategic decision-making based on in-depth technical analysis. Engineers in this role influence product development, drive process improvements, and may mentor junior professionals while working with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Design & Development: Research, design, and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems to meet performance, reliability, and efficiency goals.
- Validation & Testing: Conduct extensive testing, verification, and validation of mechanical components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Project Leadership: Lead or contribute significantly to engineering projects, managing timelines, resources, and technical execution.
- Process Optimization: Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes, efficiency, and product quality, ensuring smooth transitions from R&D to production.
- Technology & Innovation: Recommend and implement technological advancements, materials selection, and system improvements to enhance functionality and manufacturability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product development, quality assurance, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure cohesive solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate technical insights, progress updates, and recommendations to senior internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and clients.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Provide guidance and technical support to junior engineers, fostering skill development and best practices.
- Risk Assessment & Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges related to safety, performance, and efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (or 2 years with an advanced degree).
- Strong proficiency in mechanical system design, validation, and optimization.
- Ability to analyze complex engineering issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Experience managing projects, coordinating teams, and ensuring timely execution.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while guiding junior engineers and leading technical initiatives.
