We're looking for a driven, safety-first Shift Lead to join our client’s hard services maintenance and calibrations team on a critical utilities contract with one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies based in Dublin.
As a key member of our operations team, you’ll take the lead on shift to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient running of essential utility systems—playing a vital role in supporting life-changing pharmaceutical manufacturing.
About the Role
As a Utilities Shift Lead, you’ll take full responsibility for the operation of all critical utilities equipment and systems during your scheduled shift. You’ll be the go-to person for all things utilities—overseeing performance, managing issues, and ensuring systems are fully operational 24/7.
You’ll lead daily shift pass-down meetings, report on system performance, escalate any issues when necessary, and ensure your team is aligned, informed, and performing to the highest standards.
You'll work in close collaboration with key stakeholders, leadership team, maintenance team, and Client SMEs to ensure consistent delivery of top-tier performance across black utility systems.
What You’ll Be Doing – Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operation and oversight of all critical utility systems on shift
- Drive safety, compliance, and system availability across site utilities
- Allocate shift resources to resolve issues swiftly and effectively
- Deliver clear and concise handovers and lead shift meetings
- Support and develop your shift team to expand knowledge and skillsets
- Ensure compliance with the Shift Expectations document
- Collaborate across departments to ensure optimal performance of utilities
- Engage in continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications (any of the below):
- Engineering degree (preferably Mechanical/Environmental) with 3–4 years' experience
- Trade qualification (National Craft Cert, City & Guilds or equivalent) with 8–10 years’ experience
- Marine qualification with 4–6 years' sea-going experience
Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years' technical experience in a relevant industry
- 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role
- Experience working with key utilities systems including:
- HVAC, Pumps, Steam Boilers, Compressors, Chillers, Cooling Towers
- High/Low Voltage Systems, BMS/PLC Systems, Instrumentation
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Shift work experience in a pharma or manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience using BMS/MCS systems
- Self-starter with a team mindset and a strong safety culture
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
