The role:
With a full copy of the Job Spec available on request, the Software Engineer will:
- Design and implement control software for bespoke industrial systems, driving performance, reliability, and innovation across automation platforms.
- Report to the Electrical Engineering Manager, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate PLCs into complex control architectures, including Telematics and HMI interfaces.
- Take ownership of system programming, testing, and optimization—ensuring Ground Support Equipment (GSE) meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
The person:
- Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline – or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within Tier 1 or OEM sectors (on highway or off highway) within system engineering or software development.
- Ability to design and implement complex control architectures involving multiple PLCs, actuators and sensors.
- Knowledge of industry standards, such as IEC 61131-3, for PLC programming.
- Experience in software programming with CODESYS
- Experience with real-time system debugging, signal processing and control loop tuning.
- Able to adhere to company processes relating to internal and external procedures and sign-off requirements.
- Strong desire to learn from working on differing system architectures and coding techniques.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well independently and in a team.
