My client is seeking an Assistant Design Manager to provide both hands-on technical leadership and support in managing the design department. The role involves coordinating design delivery from project inception through construction, working closely with the Design Manager, project teams, BIM teams, site teams, subcontractors, and clients. Site-based experience is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead design work across multiple projects, ensuring quality, standards, and deadlines are met.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure accurate design interpretation and installation.
• Manage QA/QC for BIM and design work; conduct clash detection and model coordination.
• Support site staff by reviewing and amending models/drawings as needed.
• Assist Design Manager with management: resource planning, mentoring, performance reviews, and training initiatives.
• Promote best practices in design standards, BIM workflows, and quality procedures.
• Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture and support onboarding new team members.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years in design-to-fabrication or construction environments.
• Strong expertise in Revit, BIM workflows; knowledge of AutoCad, Navisworks, Plant 3D, or BIM 360 is desirable.
• Experience in data centre design is highly desirable.
• Experience across full project lifecycle (design → construction → site delivery).
• Knowledge of Building Regulations, design coordination, and multidisciplinary model integration.
• Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
• Self-driven, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
