My client have a Chemical Engineering role coming up based in Northern Ireland. Candidates must have relevant experience within water treatment, plant utilities:
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the HSSE Team Leader, the key duties and responsibilities will be:
- Day to day and long-term management of boiler and cooling water quality, which includes providing condition monitoring for quality control including: logging of system variables; sampling; laboratory analysis; managing records; interpretation of results; troubleshooting and making informed recommendations for actions to Shift Leaders.
- Management of chemical inventory to maintain adequate stocks, including ordering, reordering, usage, storage, access and disposal.
- Managing ‘COSHH’ records, providing advice and assistance on COSHH to other departments for chemicals / substances used or present onsite.
- Carrying out the role of Selected Person (Atmosphere) under the Safety Rules, which includes providing ‘Selected Person Reports’ for confined space working under the ‘Safety Rules’.
- Monitoring of confined space atmospheres for hazards and assigning precautions, taking responsibility and providing confirmation to the SAP that specified areas are safe for work.
Essential:
- Strong working knowledge of water treatment technologies, particularly the production of RO/DI and demineralised water.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant HSE legislation.
- Practical experience of good laboratory practices and environment sampling.
- Knowledge of relevant chemical philosophies, existing and proposed technical legislation, policies and legal obligations.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within a power station or the electricity sector.
- Experience of operations, including boiler water chemistry.
- Experience with Safety Documents (Permit for Work) systems.
- Ability to understand, operate and predict consequences of plant operation.
- Knowledge of planning techniques and project management.
