THE ROLE
The Software Engineering Director will manage, develop, and implement solutions for our parent company Elevance Health. You will own the full technology stack that supports our Digitization and modernization initiatives.
• Digitization and Automation technology expert who leads by example.
• Work with the teams as an active participant defining processes, developing architecture, resolving process and technology conflicts.
• Implement future state digitization strategies and delivery across various teams.
• Work with a diverse set of resources consisting of a mix of internal and external developers, product managers and business stakeholders to implement scalable solutions.
• Iteratively deliver and improve our existing Claims Digitization strategy and work on new Digital Platform Opportunities.
• Lead the delivery of business-critical initiatives like Large Language Models
• Lead the growth of Software Engineering practice in Carelon Ireland
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build strategic relationships with key technology and business leaders to ensure success
• Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies.
• Continually define ways to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
• Translate product and business goals into Digital Platforms and roadmap.
• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of large cross-functional projects.
• Manage the strategic aspects of large engagements and mitigate risk.
• Oversee senior leaders working on client engagements within the engagements.
• Develop talent for the business
• Review high-level deliverables across engagements.
• Ensure engagement reviews and effective quality assurance procedures are in place.
• Develop, implement, and maintain sound business practices
• Develop and implements strategic objectives aligned with strategic initiatives.
EXPERIENCE
• Extensive experience in managing technology projects, with a strong working knowledge of super niche technologies utilized in corporate environments e.g., DevOps, Automation and Cloud technologies
• Working knowledge of Large Language Models and Generative AI
• Run multiple large, complex, and multi-functional projects, with emphasis on product development, systems, and technical environments successfully in a highly matrixed organization
• Experience with large scale application development and production implementations is required
• Experience as a Director, technology manager, architect or developer in early career is preferred
• Demonstrable ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors, key partners, and team; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
• Focused and versatile standout colleague, comfortable under pressure
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects with expertise in the use of project management tools and methodologies
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Physics, or related Quantitative disciplines.
• 12 to 17 years’ experience in Technology, minimum 12 years in project and people management.
• Experience in managing a team of 40+ people.
• Experience creating, leading, and running technology teams utilizing modern best practices across Agile software engineering, CI/CD, DevOps, and Cloud environments.
• Health Insurance, Healthcare Payer, Clinical informatics, or other related Healthcare industry experience is an advantage.
• Experience in managing global stakeholders across multiple geographies.
• Experience in an IT services organization a plus.
