Electrical Design Engineer

Salary £55,000 approx.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering organisation operating within the electrified vehicle and specialist equipment sector. This role offers the chance to work on innovative projects, designing and developing robust electrical systems that support sustainable and advanced engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical circuit schematics, wiring harnesses, and panel layouts in accordance with relevant standards and legislative requirements.
- Produce technical documentation including design specifications, work instructions, parts lists, and maintenance documentation.
- Conduct simulations and engineering analyses to support and validate electrical designs.
- Specify electrical and electronic components for integration into vehicle systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and achieve a “right first time” approach.
- Develop electrical solutions based on customer requirements, including research, testing, and system integration activities.
- Collaborate with PLC software engineers to develop control strategies for powertrain and driveline systems.
- Support the development of new products and the expansion of existing product ranges.
- Develop electrical testing methods and carry out testing to verify system performance and product quality.
- Provide technical support and engineering guidance in line with internal standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Support adherence to quality management systems and health and safety procedures.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support business needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- HND (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ postgraduate experience in a similar electrical design role.
- Experience producing schematics using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or EPLAN.
- Experience working with electrified vehicle powertrain systems or off-road electrical systems design.
- Ability to read and produce detailed electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of current electrical design standards and regulations.
