Logistics Manager wanted for North Cork Client.
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for the effective management of the transport & logistics planning functions for the Client .
Core responsibilities associated with this role:
· Strategy: Devise the strategy for the transport / Logistics function to support the business in the delivery of its strategy. The scope of activities included are: bulk and bag feed, mill ingredients, grain, fertilizer, retail transport and forklift management across both the Agri and Retail areas.
· Capacity Planning & Provision : responsible for the provision of the required level of capacity on an annual & ongoing basis in line with customer needs & volumes. Continuous improvement of same on an on- going basis.
· Tendering and contracts – Lead the process for the procurement of the relevant services in line with the business requirements. Ensure that all operators providing services do so in a compliant and cost effective manner & that they have the required capability to meet the needs of the business in terms of volumes, on- time delivery and quality of operations.
· People Management: Develop and lead a high calibre Agri Transport team;
· Financial Management: Develop annual budgets. Ensure on an ongoing basis that all areas of the role operate within Budget. Identify trends and areas for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
· Transport Systems Management: Review, and as required redesign routes to determine the optimum delivery schedule. Identify and implement new initiatives as required to enhance service.
· Fleet & contractor management - All trucks are to undergo an audit at least bi monthly and ensure any actions arising are closed out. Manage the rollout of branding for the fleet and implement a cleanliness programme to ensure that the fleet reflects the quality image of Dairygold feeds.
· Forklift Management: Manage Maintenance Service Level Agreement / Contract in relation to forklifts for Agri Operations and Agri Retail and ensure compliance with same. Review of forklift models, costs and methods of operating for Agri/DFI and audit process and documentation monthly in relation to same.
· Driver Development: Implement the driver training programme annually.
· Haulier Compliance: Ensure best operational practice for Hauliers – Quality/Driver Manual, Best Practice documentation; Maintaining TSB system for haulier payment process and monitor driver documentation daily to ensure conformance with UFAS and HACCP quality standards.
· Fuel Management: Responsible for the management of haulier fuel provision & payment for the Division.
· Fertiliser Transport: Manage the transport of fertiliser from depot to farm in and efficient and effective manner.
· Grain Management: Responsible for the management of grain transport & logistics operations.
· Projects: Take a lead role in strategic and operational projects. Design and implement Agri Transport management specific projects/work steams as required including on farm elements and provide additional ad-hoc support as required.
Qualification Required: 3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline
Work Experience Required: 5+ years relevant experience. Previous use of Oracle and Core Agri is advantageous.
